Cost of Living Application

Please use this form to refer residents who you have assessed as eligible for Southwark’s Cost of Living Fund voucher scheme, so we can issue a Post Office Payout voucher.

Our estimated processing time for vouchers sent by post is seven working days but if you provide an email address for your client, they’ll get the voucher much quicker.

This scheme is assisted by the UK Government’s Household Support Fund.

The fund is open from 13th November – 18th December 2023 and then available again from 3rd January – 29th March 2024.

To ensure all applications are submitted before 18th December – We will stop processing new applications from 9th December Midnight!

Eligibility criteria for the fund

  • You must live in Southwark or have been placed in temporary accommodation by Southwark Council within or outside the borough.
  • You must pay towards energy bills for your home.
  • Your household must be identified as vulnerable and in need – note there is no formal means-testing of those referred and the council will not probe the circumstances of referrals.
  • If you share a home and bills with others, you can be referred. Please note there will only be two payments made per property.
  • If you are receiving benefits, you can also be referred.
  • A household which received a payment in the period up to 31st December 2023 may receive a second payment in the period 1 January – 29 March 2024 if the above criteria is still met.

Please be advised once you complete this form, it will be assessed by Southwark Council, once it has been received. Within 7 – 10 working days you will receive an email of confirmation from the council. This will be in the form of a voucher that will be redeemable at your local post office (You will need to provide your ID and proof of being a Southwark resident i.e. a council tax letter, driving licence, household utility bill).
